Youth Opportunity Program

The Youth Opportunity Program (YOP) constantly seeks advantageous avenues of employment and services that will benefit program participants in all future endeavors, whether that future be employment at Choctaw entities or anywhere else in the world. This program hopes to fulfill a promise to Choctaw youth to provide a future of meaningful employment, establish pride in Choctaw ancestry, and instill in every participating youth a philanthropic understanding of the Choctaw community. Since establish in the early 1970’s, YOP has provided services over 11,000 tribal youth.

Eligibility:

  1. Be an enrolled member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians
  2. Be between the ages of 15-24 years old
  3. Enrolled in middle school, high school, or college/university
  4. Must have a “C” average, grading system will be determined
  5. Pass background check
  6. Pass drug and alcohol screening.

Chahta Alla Youth Council

The purpose of the Chahta Alla Youth Council (CAYC) is to strengthen family values, promote understanding of and building a strong tribal government with community participation. We preserve Tribal culture and traditions, help solve social and economic problems facing the community and encouraging others to the same, provide service to community members who have specials needs, build self esteem and expand soft skills, and promote a healthy environment.

CAY Mentors & Member Officers

There is a six-member Board and one liaison member. These positions are voted on by all CAYC members. Board members must maintain a “C” grade point average and must pledge to be alcohol and drug-free during their term.

Eligibility

Membership is open to any member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians between the ages of 14 and 24, inclusive, at the time of August elections, and who is enrolled in school (which Includes elementary, secondary, and postsecondary schools and Tribal Vocational Education program) may be a voting member of the Chahta Alla Youth Council.
