Member Services provide services to Tribal members such as firewood, grass cutting, use of facilities, etc.

Facilities/CERF

The program provides indirect services in each community such as grass cutting, and other functions. Coordinators serve and Storm Coordinators and open the CERF storm shelters once a thunderstorm or tornado warning has been issues by the National Weather Service. Facility Coordinators and workers also provide assistance during funerals, or other events held at either the community Facility or CERF buildings.

Choctaw Recreation

Choctaw Recreation provides recreational activities to tribal members for both adults and youths in communities such as basketball, volleyball, softball, and baseball. The program also controls recreation facilities of gymnasium, ball fields, and swimming pools in each community.

Choctaw Transit

Choctaw Transit began in 1981 as the Tribe’s original transit service. The program now includes two separate arms: Choctaw Regional Transportation and Maintenance Facility, and the Choctaw Regional Transportation and Maintenance Program (Choctaw Transit). Both are operated by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, serving eight recognized tribal communities in east central Mississippi.

  • Choctaw Regional Transportation and Maintenance Program (CRT)
    CRT (Choctaw Transit) provides non-emergency medical transport to area health centers, employment routes to local businesses, and transportation services for students to local community colleges and Mississippi State University-Meridian. Under a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the City of Meridian in 2015, CRT operates a limited demand response service to Meridian citizens within the city limits.With a steady and ongoing growth in the Choctaw economic development of our service area, Choctaw Transit has continued to strive to meet the growing public transportation needs. Choctaw Transit currently serves the Counties of Kemper, Neshoba, Leake, Newton, and Winston but also provides services in the City of Meridian.To learn more about Community Regional Transportation please click here.
  • Community Regional Maintenance Facility
    The Choctaw Regional Maintenance Facility (CRMF) opened in January 2014 and provides maintenance and repair services for the Choctaw Transit fleet, Tribal Vehicles, rural public transit systems in the surrounding area as well as agencies located in the EZTAG (East Central Transit Action Group) area. CRMF does not provide services to personal vehicles.
Enrollment
Tribal Enrollment provides services to those who meet the constitutionally required blood degree of one-half or more Mississippi Choctaws based on the 1940 census roll. They also issue Certificate Degree of Indian Blood to persons who meet the criteria.

Legal Defense

The purpose of Choctaw Legal Defense is to provide high quality legal services through effectively and aggressively representing our clients, to provide strong and viable community education programs, and to maximize available resources to members of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians in various tribal and state courts throughout the state of Mississippi and Tennessee.

Although our caseload takes our attorneys to many different courts in Mississippi and Tennessee, our core presentation is in the youth, collection, civil, and criminal courts of the Choctaw Tribal Courts.
