The Choctaw Health Department provides services to more than 10,000 members of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, members of other eligible Indian Tribes, and non-Indian visitors to the reservation for emergency services only. The health center was designed to meet the needs of a user population of approximately 3,500 users.It is an Indian Health Services owned facility under management by the MBCI. It employs approximately 260 personnel of which the majority are members of the MBCI.

The Choctaw Health Department is located in the Pearl River Community off State Highway 16 in Choctaw, MS, approximately eight miles from Philadelphia, MS. It is a 58,800 square foot comprehensive health care center which opened under Tribal management in 1975. The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians also manages three rural health clinics in the Choctaw communities of Bogue Chitto, Conehatta, Red Water, Standing Pine, and Tucker. The health center averages 100,000 patient visits per year. The rural clinics average approximately 3,000 visits per year. The number one health concern of the Tribe is Diabetes. It is a single story facility which consists of an 18-bed inpatient unit and the services provided at the health center include the following:
