A swearing in ceremony was held January 8, 2008, during Tribal Council meeting to appoint Melba Smith as the Peacemaker Judge for the Choctaw Tribal Courts. Ms. Smith is a Pearl River resident. Miko Denson Honored by Mississippi Economic Council

Miko Beasley Denson, the third Chief of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians since the adoption of their modern Constitution in 1945, was one of six new leaders honored by the Mississippi Economic Council at their August meeting.
