Adult Education

The Choctaw Adult Education Program was established to give all Choctaw communities access to education in the following areas: basic acadmic skills, GED preparation, ESL (literacy) classes and functional skills development. Please call for more information.

English as a Second Lanuage (ESL) Literacy Classes

A bilingual instructor meets with students in small groups, as well as one-on-one. Computer-aided instruction is also used.

Basic Education Classes / GED Preparation

These classes offer individuals the opportunity to study for the GED, the ability to find gainful employment and job placement and the chance to take a refresher course to upgrade skills. Students enrolled in these classes take a placement test to determin their academic level. Then, an individualized education plan (IEP) is prepared for each student. Students at similar academic levels are grouped together. Classes are taught using a variety of methods, including one-on-one, small groups, classroom lectures, computer-assisted learning and self-directed studies.
