Treaties
Nine treaties were signed during a forty-four-year period, from 1786 to 1830. I shall stress the amounts of Choctaw land involved in these treaties, even though they included agreements relating to other matters, because land was the Indians' most valuable resource. I shall also provide a day-by-day account, from September 15 to September 28, 1839, of the events leading to the signing of the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek. A table at the end provides a general overview of the nine treaties.
