Mahlih Rene Vaughn
2010-2011 Choctaw Indian Princess

Mahlih Rene Vaughn was born in Jackson, MS and resides in the Pearl River Community on the Choctaw Indian Reservation located in East Central Mississippi. She is the 18-year-old daughter of Rae Nell Vaughn and Harley Vaughn, also of the Pearl River Community. Mahlih has two sisters, Hillary and Breanna. She is a 2010 graduate of Choctaw Central High School and was very active in school organizations and councils such as Chahta Alla Youth Council, BETA, Teen Court, Boys and Girls Club, Mississippi Scholars, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and H.O.S.A.

Beginning in August, Mahlih will be a freshman at Meridian Community College studying Nursing. Her future goal and plan is to become a Nurse Practitioner and provide care for the Choctaw people. As the reigning 2010-2011 Choctaw Indian Princess, her duties will entail serving as ambassador and teacher, educating people about her great tribe, the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. Mahlih is involved in many charitable endeavors; she embraces and supports the Diabetic Awareness, Prevention and intervention programs and wants to use this year and opportunity to educate people about the devastating effects of this awful disease and she does this in honor of her late grandmother Caroline Morris, who passed away July 16, 2010.

Mahlih is sponsored by the Pearl River Community Development Club.
